Mayu Tsuda Sommovigo

Born in Yokohama, Kanagawa, JAPAN

Education: Started Suzuki Method at the age of 3 till 7 years old under Ms. Yukako Okumura.  Has attended Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s play-ins, classes at Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan.

Violin Performance Degree, Bachelors and Masters of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, Massachusetts. Studied with Ms. Michele Auclair, Mr. Eric Rosenblith (Solo) Mrs. Patricia Zander, Ms. Lucy Chapman, Mr. Nicholas Kitchen ( Chamber Music)

While at the NEC, she also studied Kodaly Method with Mrs. Mary Epstein.

Suzuki Training: with Mrs. Carrie Hummel-Reuning, Mrs. Teri Einfeldt, Ms. Kirsten Marshall, Mr. Rolando Freitag.  In process of completing Book 3, has finished Every Child Can, Book 1, Book 2,  Book 3,  Strategies (as of May, 2022) 

Selected Chamber Music Experiences: Yellow Barn Music Festival, Putney, Vermont and Nova Scotia Music Festival, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Selected Performance Experiences: a core member of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, 2000-2015.  

Performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Opera Orchestra.  Some non-classical performance experiences with Diana Kroll, Earth, Wind and Fire.

Her Students have been accepted in the Allstate Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Emory Youth Orchestra, the Emory Chamber Orchestra and the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra.

A member of Suzuki Association of the Americas, National Federation of Music Club, Music Teachers National Association, North Fulton Music Teachers Association
